Assembling the Hesco Bastion entails unfolding it and (if available) using a front end loader to fill it with sand, dirt or gravel. The placement of the barrier is generally very similar to the placement of a sandbag barrier or earth berm except that room must generally be allowed for the equipment used to fill the barrier. The main advantage of Hesco Barrier, strongly contributing to their popularity with troops and flood fighters, wire mesh products, is the quick and easy setup. Previously, people had to fill sandbags, a slow undertaking, with one worker filling about 20 sandbags per hour. Workers using Hesco Barrier and a front end loader can do ten times the work of those using sandbags.

Lockheed Martin will assist with the relocation of basic and specialty enlisted training from the Air Force 882nd Training Group, the Naval Schools of Health Sciences, and the Naval Hospital Corps School to Fort Sam Houston,拦河坝, Texas. These units are being consolidated with the current Army Medical Department Center and School, which is already based at Fort Sam Houston.

As the consolidation moves forward, Lockheed Martin will perform a number of important tasks including identifying new equipment needs and developing a purchasing plan for both medical and non-medical equipment and furnishings. Lockheed Martin will also manage the purchase of new items and the relocation and warehousing of existing units. An additional element of the contract will include the installation and calibration of new equipment as well as the coordination of training in its use.

Home > News Consolidation of Military Medical Facilities And Training Center in San Antonio, Texas To Receive Support from Lockheed Martin Contract with Army Medical Command Valued at $193 Million

Laurel, Md., August 18th,hesco bastion, 2009 — The Department of Defense consolidation of military medical facilities will receive logistics support from Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] under a new contract with the U.S. Army Medical Command. The total value of the contract is $193 million over a two year period of performance.

The analysis also summarizes four decades of political debate and increasingly onerous restrictions on the availability of abortion services at U.S. military medical facilities, starting in the 1970s, when taxpayer-funded abortions at military facilities were available,拦河坝-Forgotten Military Facilities Weirdomatic-Wire Mesh, albeit with some limitations, and arriving at today’s ban on servicewomen using even their own funds to pay for an abortion in military facilities.

“The reproductive health and rights of our military women should not be a political football, but sadly that’s exactly what it has long been,” says Boonstra. “That abortions in military facilities are banned, even when U.S. servicewomen pay out-of-pocket for the procedure, demonstrates just how badly our political system has failed the women who have volunteered to serve our country.”

Current policy prohibiting abortions in American military facilities should be overturned because it discriminates against U.S. servicewomen and endangers their health and safety, according to a new analysis in the Summer 2010 issue of the Guttmacher Policy Review. At a minimum, Congress should follow the lead of the Senate Armed Services Committee, which earlier this year voted to let active duty women in the military pay out-of-pocket for abortions at U.S. military facilities.

Many servicewomen will face an unintended pregnancy during their military career, but they often confront much steeper hurdles in obtaining abortion care than their civilian counterparts, waratah fence post, the analysis finds. The ban on abortions in military facilities is particularly devastating for service members who live overseas and depend on their base hospitals for medical care. If they live in a country where abortion is illegal or otherwise unavailable, they are severely restricted in their ability to access a safe and legal procedure.

“This debate is not about the morality or legality of abortion, gabion, but whether women who enlist in the military, and especially those who are living overseas, should be discriminated against as a result,” says Heather Boonstra, author of the analysis. “It’s time that we stop treating women in uniform as second-class citizens by denying them timely access to a legal, Constitutionally protected health care service their civilian counterparts can freely obtain.”

NEWS RELEASE

Boonstra argues that allowing privately funded procedures would be an important step toward restoring full abortion rights to the approximately 200,000 active-duty women in the U.S. military. Under the proposed change, servicewomen would be required to pay for the procedure,Gabion Mattress-Military Facilities-Wire Mesh, including institutional overhead costs,Welded Gabion Box, in advance. No taxpayer dollars would be spent on the abortion, and health care providers could opt out of performing or assisting in the procedure. The Senate is expected to pass the provision when it takes up the defense authorization bill later this fall, whereas the House did not take any action with respect to abortion in passing its version of the bill.

The current ban compromises women’s health and safety, since—by definition—it delays women in having the procedure. Although the risk of serious complications from an abortion is low at any point, it increases dramatically with increased gestational length. The analysis also found that current restrictions fall hardest on the most junior enlisted women, who are the most likely to have an unintended pregnancy.

Military Barrier

The QIAOSHI’s Military Barriers or Hesco Bastions is a modern gabion used for flood control and military fortification. It is made of a collapsible wire mesh container and heavy duty fabric liner,Stone Cage–Wire Mesh, gabion box, and used as a temporary to semi-permanent dike or barrier against blast or small-arms. One of the less heralded life- and labor-saving devices of war, it is used on nearly every United States Military base in Iraq as well as on NATO bases in Afghanistan.

Originally designed for use on beaches and marshes for erosion and flood control, the Hesco Bastion quickly became a popular security device in the 1990s.

Assembly
Assembling the Hesco Bastion entails unfolding it and (if available) using a front end loader to fill it with sand, waratah fence post-2&quot-Wire Mesh, dirt or gravel. The placement of the barrier is generally very similar to the placement of a sandbag barrier or earth berm except that room must generally be allowed for the equipment used to fill the barrier. The main advantage of Military Barrier, strongly contributing to their popularity with troops and flood fighters, is the quick and easy setup. Previously,Welded Gabion Box,Stone Cage–Wire Mesh, people had to fill sandbags, a slow undertaking, with one worker filling about 20 sandbags per hour. Workers using Military Barrier and a front end loader can do ten times the work of those using sandbags.
The Hesco Barrier come in a variety of sizes. Most of the barriers can also be stacked, and they are shipped collapsed in compact sets. Example dimensions of typical configurations are 4’6” x 3’6” x 32’ (1.4m x 1.1m x 9.8m) to 7’ x 5’ x 100’ (2.1m x 1.5m x 30m).
A new system of Hesco Bastion developed specially for military use is deployed from a container,拦河坝, which is dragged along the line of ground where the barrier is to be formed, fence post, unfolding up to several hundred meters of barrier in minutes, ready for filling with soil by a backhoe.

Protection
Filled with sand, 60 centimetres (24 inches) of barrier thickness will stop rifle bullets and shell fragments. It takes 1.5 metres (five feet) of thickness to prevent penetration by a rocket propelled grenade round. Approximately 1.2 metres (four feet) of thickness provides protection against most car bombs.
